Vernissage på V1

Konst Publicerad tisdag, augusti 28th, 2012 | Av Martin Ottosson

Thomas Campbell (USA, b.1969) is an accomplished artist and auteur working in a multitude of media. He has recently shown at Half Gallery, New York and in Sao Paulo. A new monography on Campbellʼs work “From UMMM to DER” is available from Gingko Press.

Litmus Test
is a collection of photographs from Ed Templetonʼs trip to Russia in 2007. A trip where he shot constantly in the wide-eyed amazement of a first-timer in a new place, picking up on the social differences of the people and places so mythical to a child who grew up in the cold-war. The photographs in Litmus Test were printed by hand in Templeton’s home darkroom for this exhibition and written on by Templeton himself, pulling quotes from various literature and luminaries from history. Litmus Test is also available in book form.

Ed Templeton (USA, b. 1972) is a diverse artist and pro skater. Templeton has recently shown at MOCA los Angeles, S.M.A.C.K in Gehnt and Museo dʼArte Provincia di Nuoro, Sardinia. Numerous books have been published on Templetonʼs work. An extensive monography Deformer is available from Damiani.

Known Associates
Evan Hecoxʼs work captures the essence of urban environments through a unique process that involves careful, first-hand observations of his surroundings and then progresses into drawings and paintings that are striking in their graphic simplicity. His work recognizes and evokes the transitory nature of cities and of the lives that exist within them. By visually embracing all aspects of these environments he uses the decay and detritus of modern cities as key visual elements in his work, thereby challenging traditional preconceptions of beauty. Like mental snapshots distorted by the haze of memory they both record a place and time as it actually was and re-write fact by removing certain elements while emphasizing and distorting others. In this way his work has the effect of placing the viewer in a certain time and place while also imposing his own experience within.

Evan Hecox is an accomplished artist and graphic designer (1970, USA). He has recently exhibited in New York, Los Angeles and London.

We look forward to seeing you.

Det ur Frankrike sprungna Magenta Skateboards släppte i dagarna filmen Panic in Gotham, ett verk helt och hållet filmat i städernas stad, New York City. Förutom sedvanliga magentörer återfinns även gräddan av stadens skatescen 2013. Man tackar.
